Jürgen Klopp just said what Liverpool already knew in biggest Mohamed Salah contract 'hint' yet

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has just been given yet another reason to stay at Anfield beyond his current contract, which is set to expire in 2023 as things stand.

"It's not about the money." That has always been the message from Mohamed Salah whenever he has been asked — and he has been on several occasions — about his contract negotiations.

So what is it about? That remains a very reasonable question that he has so far been unwilling to elaborate on. The Egyptian has spoken about wanting to feel loved and respected, but he has that at Anfield more than anywhere else.

Salah has also made clear that he wants to be winning the biggest trophies, and is desperate to get his hands on the Champions League again. Yet, once more, there is nowhere better for that than at Liverpool.

News of a two-year contract extension for Jürgen Klopp is only likely to make that even more likely to be the case. It is probably not completely out of the realms of possibility that it might convince Salah even further, too.

If Salah was to sign an extension of three years, that would line up with Klopp's possible departure in 2026. By that summer, he would be approaching 34 — the same age Karim Benzema, who is showing no signs of slowing down for Real Madrid, turned last December.
