Liverpool held negotiations with€25m-rated Primeira Liga midfielder
Liverpool have reportedly stepped up their attempts to add Porto midfielder Vitinha this summer, with the footballer’s release clause standing at £33m. Portugal international spent the last campaign on loan at Wolverhampton but has been a regular for Sergio Conceicao’s men this term.
The 22-year-old midfielder has chalked up two goals and two assists in 25 league games for the Dragons. And Conceicao has previously described him as a “fabulous” footballer. Liverpool are looking at the footballer who is being tipped to replace Oxlade-Chamberlain at the Merseyside club.
Alex has struggled for playing time during the second half of the season, with the Reds tipped to cash in on his services. The Portuguese midfielder averages two shots, 1.5 key passes and 1.8 dribbles per game in the league this campaign.
Those stats highlight the Portuguese’s qualities that could lead him to Liverpool. If the Reds do swoop for the midfielder, Vitinha would become the second Liverpool arrival in recent months. Luis Diaz was snapped up in the winter transfer window and has already proved an immediate success.
After spending last campaign on loan in the PL with Wolverhampton, Vitinha, who has been described as a “fabulous” footballer by his coach Sergio Conceicao, has been a regular figure for Porto in the current season.
With 25 league games under his belt, the Portuguese midfielder has scored two goals, provided two assists and earned an overall display rating of 7.41/10, making him the third-highest rated footballer currently at the club.
