Liverpool are surely on red alert as Chelsea request £31.5m fee, Klopp loves him

Christian Pulisic is on borrowed time at Chelsea having stayed at Stamford Bridge in the summer. The USMNT captain’s exit looks inevitable and at £31.5m – Liverpool will surely be on red alert to sign Pulisic, a player Jurgen Klopp loves.

Pulisic, 24, has featured in all eight of Chelsea’s matches this season. Seven under Thomas Tuchel, one under Graham Potter. But only once has the American started. Ahead of the World Cup in Qatar, he will be wanting to play regularly.

Indeed, reports following the summer window claimed that he was actually “disappointed” not to go on loan. Leeds and Newcastle were showing interest. But a new report suggests why, perhaps, Chelsea did not sanction a loan deal.

That is because, the Blues have set a realistic asking price of £31.5million for Pulisic. Simply, they may have preferred a permanent sale. Whether Leeds or Newcastle come back in for him, remains to be seen. Juventus are interested.

Klopp is a huge admirer of Pulisic. Branding him a “fantastic player” in 2018, he worked alongside Pulisic during the latter stages of his time at Dortmund – before he swapped Germany for Liverpool. The Reds have been linked.

Even in the summer, it was claimed that the Reds were considering a move. But even more so now, Liverpool could reunite Klopp with Pulisic. That is, because of the amount of outgoings the Reds could confirm in the next year.

Divock Origi and Sadio Mane have gone. Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita are all in the final years of their deal. The Reds are trying to bring the average age down – and Pulisic fits all the required categories.

They need a versatile attacker – can play on either flank or slightly deeper. At 24, he is young – but very experienced, too. What better way to ease Liverpool’s depth, by signing a player Klopp already loves – for little over £30million?
