Report: Jurgen Klopp is delighted by £32m Liverpool player after what he did in the international break

This comes from the Athletic. They claim that Jurgen Klopp is ‘delighted’ with Arthur‘s efforts in the international break as he pushes for games with Liverpool.

Arthur arrived at the club without much of a pre-season, of course. In fact, he hadn’t played football in months, as Juventus left him out of the squad.

He was roughly a month behind everyone else in terms of fitness – but he’s worked hard to correct that. Arthur played twice for the Under 21s and gave up his holiday to do so.

“The deadline-day loan arrival from Juventus spent a week working with Liverpool Under-21s and gracing the Papa Johns Trophy at Rochdale rather than going on holiday,” writes James Pearce. “Klopp has been delighted by his attitude and application.

“He’s now in a much better place to stake a claim for first-team action.”

Liverpool youth coach Barry Lewtas has already spoken about Arthur’s extra work. It’s safe to say that the Brazilian is making a positive impression. The international break has been fantastic for him.

The upcoming six weeks are massive, with games coming every few days. Liverpool need a full squad but with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out, the midfield looks shaky.

Thus having Arthur firing on all cylinders is a fantastic sign. He should get games over the next little while and though we don’t see him starting against Brighton, he may feature vs Rangers in midweek.

It certainly sounds as though Arthur has done everything in his power to make that happen. Perform to a high level – a level we knows he’s got – and Liverpool will seriously consider triggering that £32m option to buy next summer.
