Liverpool held negotiations with€30m-rated Brazilian defender
Liverpool are lining up a £25m swoop for Torino defender Gleison Bremer in anticipation that Joe Gomez could leave the club, according to reports in Italy. The 25-year-old centre-back has been among the best footballers in Serie A this campaign, despite the fact, his side currently sit 11th in the table.
Gleison has been central to Torino’s fantastic defensive record that sees them boast the fifth tightest backline in the Italian top-flight. Torino have shipped only 30 goals, only one less than league leaders Milan and two more than fourth-placed Juventus.
Bremer is back on the Reds’ radar after Liveprool perilously explored a deal in winter 2021. It’s suggested that a £25m bid is under consideration ahead of the summer when the Reds could make changes to their options at centre-back. That’s because Joe Gomez is expected to move on after nearly seven years at Liverpool.
The German manager has been unable to offer the 24-year-old centre-back regular playing time this campaign due to the consistency of Matip and Konate alongside van Dijk. Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is understood to be lining up a summer move for Joe Gomez, who will be allowed to leave the Reds.
Although Jurgen Klopp would love to keep his Premier League-winning defender, he cannot offer him assurances of regular game time. Liverpool are not the only club in contention for the Brazilian centre-back, though, with Inter Milan already at the front of the queue.
