25-year-old midfielder scores 'special goal' just days after Liverpool links
Rúben Neves scored a ‘special’ goal for Wolves on Sunday, just days after links with Liverpool. The Reds want a new midfielder.
90min claim that Liverpool have Rúben Neves on their shortlist right now. We know the Reds want a midfielder, after all – Jurgen Klopp admitted it this week.
“I know we have had this discussion since it all started and I am the one who said we don’t need a midfielder and I was wrong. That’s the situation,” Klopp said, per the Telegraph. “But the specific point doesn’t change – we will do something but it has to be the right one. We will see.”
And Neves is apparently on their shortlist. The 25-year-old Wolves star has been one of the midfielders to watch in the Premier League over the last few years – and we imagine Liverpool would love to have him.
If the Reds are watching, they’ll have loved what they saw against Newcastle United on Sunday. Neves popped up with the opening goal as he thundered one into the bottom corner. As commentary said, he did what he’s known for by delivering a ‘special goal’.
Neves would be a fantastic signing – no one should doubt that. He’s got the profile Liverpool need right now, too, as a midfielder who can sit a little deeper than the rest and break apart defensive lines.
And, of course, he can score great goals from range. That’s always a bonus.
Neves was fantastic against Newcastle, too. He played at least one ‘exquisite’ pass, in the words of Jamie Redknapp at half-time, while he won tackles and dictated player throughout.
If he truly is available, Liverpool will surely see what Wolves want. While he’s certainly not the only played linked, Neves might just be the best.
