Mohamed Salah names £180,000-a-week man as his favourite teammate to play with at Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has been involved in a Q&A with Vodafone Egypt, where he made an interesting claim about Liverpool teammate Roberto Firmino.
Well, the Liverpool No.11 sat down with Vodafone Egypt, where he was asked a few questions about life in the Premier League.
At one point, Salah is asked who he most enjoys playing with at Liverpool, and he reveals that Firmino is his favourite teammate at Anfield.
You can see footage of the moment below, and the entire interview – albeit in Egyptian – on Vodafone Egypt’s YouTube channel.
In truth, Salah is spoiled for choice. The likes of Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Thiago are surely joys to play alongside, so it speaks volumes that Firmino – who Philippe Coutinho also loves – was named.
After all, the £180,000-a-week man and Salah have shared a pitch on 210 occasions, and with great success, so you can see why the Egyptian enjoys playing with the Brazilian.
In total, the pair have combined to score 32 goals in those 210 outings, averaging an outstanding record of 2.11 points per game while also winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
If the 30-year-old leaves Anfield when his contract expires in June 2023, Jürgen Klopp simply has to replace him properly.
Interestingly, Jamie Carragher is expecting the South American to leave for nothing.
Liverpool do not have another forward like Firmino, who plays the false nine role to perfection, and also makes life easier up top for Salah in doing so.
In some ways, Firmino has arguably been the player of the Klopp era at Liverpool, having already been at Anfield when the German arrived.
If he does depart next summer, Liverpool must replace him.
Mane, Salah and Diaz, nor Diogo Jota, can do what he does to defenders – it’s a unique skill, which Liverpool will sorely miss if he is not replaced.
Whatever happens, it will be a very sad day when Firmino does leave Liverpool, as he’s clearly a popular man amongst his teammates at Anfield.
