Major West Ham boost as Liverpool allegedly could sign 'potentially world-class' £43m star

West Ham have been handed a big boost with the news that Liverpool are eyeing a move to sign Sporting Lisbon ace Matheus Nunes this summer.

That’s because Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move to sign key Hammers target Amadou Onana from Lille (The Athletic).

Correio da Manha (print edition July 22nd, page 11) claim that Liverpool are eyeing a €50 million (£43 million) summer swoop for Matheus Nunes.

And if the Reds sign the 8-capped Portugal international, there will then be no need for them to bring Onana to Anfield as well.

Liverpool’s interest in Nunez sounds like very good news for West Ham. If Klopp is no longer keen on the 20-year-old, Lille will not be able to start a bidding war for the midfielder…

With Correio da Manha (print edition July 22nd, page 11) claiming that Liverpool are trying to sign the 23-year-old Sporting ace, the Hammers may well now have a free run at Onana. That’s great news for David Moyes and co.

Described by The Hard Tackle as a potentially ‘world-class’ player, Nunes will undoubtedly be a hit at Liverpool, if he does indeed move to Anfield.

And the same can be said of Onana at the London Stadium.

Getting a deal done for the Belgium international will be crucial for West Hamm if we are to achieve a successful 2022/23 campaign on all fronts.

And Liverpool signing Matheus Nunes should help us bring the towering 20-year-old to the London Stadium.

He seems to have absolutely everything needed to succeed in the English game what with its intense nature and ferocious speed and tempo.

The 6ft 5in central midfielder is an absolute giant.

He’s powerful, energetic and has everything that Moyes will be looking for in the middle of the park.

The Belgium international is equally as strong with both feet, and that’s somewhat of a rarity in the modern game.

In 32 Ligue 1 outings for Lille last season, Onana averaged 1.5 tackles and one interception per game. He made 20 passes on average per match and recorded a completion rate of 84% (Who Scored).

The 20-year-old is an absolute powerhouse of a player and would be an unreal addition to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

Onana is a really special talent. He has been described by Sport Magazine as a ‘sensational’ young player. Meanwhile, he’s been labelled as an ‘incredible’ player by Total Football Analysis.

Hopefully Liverpool signing Matheus Nunes will clear the path for West Ham to get a deal done for Amadou Onana this summer.
