Michael Owen gives his verdict on Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland
Michael Owen has praised Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez on Twitter after watching him in action against Manchester City in the FA Community Shield.
The former Liverpool striker has also backed City striker Erling Haaland to score a lot of goals this season despite his late miss against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the King Power Stadium today.
Liverpool won the FA Community Shield against defending Premier League champions Manchester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Nunez scored the goals for the Reds.
Norway international striker Haaland could have scored for City late on, but he missed a very good chance
In our view, both Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland are quality strikers, and they will be massive for Liverpool and Manchester City respectively this season.
Nunez won the penalty that Salah scored against City, and his performance after coming on as a substitute was brilliant.
The striker’s goal was deserved.
Haaland will be very disappointed with himself for not scoring from that easy late chance, but some of his movements were simply brilliant.
The Norwegian is a superb striker who will bang in the goals for fun this season.
