West Ham United in bidding war for €20m-rated Liverpool attacker

West Ham United are weighing up an offer to try and add attacker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Liverpool in the ongoing transfer window. England international has been at Anfield for five years now, having arrived from Arsenal in the summer of 2017.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been unable to nail down a regular berth for himself in the German coach’s plans. The 28-year-old attacker found playing time hard to come by at Liverpool last campaign, playing in just 17 PL games, of which just nine were starts.

Alex finds himself behind Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago, Keita, Milner and possibly Elliott in the pecking order. It has led to speculations over his future at Anfield this summer, especially with it being a World Cup year and the English attacker harbouring ambitions of making it to Gareth Southgate’s squad.

However, the Hammers are holding an interest in the Englishman and could make a £10m bid for the attacker, who has only one year left on his deal at Merseyside giants. And the former Arsenal attacker can be a smart addition to the ranks at West Ham United.

The Irons have already signed a new attacker this summer in the form of Flynn Downes. However, another signing in the centre of the park could come in handy for David Moyes’ side as they saw Mark Noble retire and let go of Alex Kral. Considering that they will once again be playing in Europe, squad depth will be crucial.
