Jurgen Klopp says one ‘really good' Liverpool player is a real gem
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that Darwin Nunez is different to what he has got in his team and has praised the striker.
Klopp made the comments about Liverpool striker Nunez following his heroics against RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly match in Germany.
The 23-year-old Uruguay international striker came off the bench to score four goals, as Liverpool hammered RB Leipzig 5-0.
Nunez moved to Liverpool from Benfica in the summer transfer window.
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Nunez: “We always think that if you pay a lot of money then the players feel no pressure or whatever.
“They are all completely normal human beings and the first touch is not perfect then all of a sudden.
“This generation of players read social media, which is really not smart, but they do.
“All of a sudden you get in a rush and these kinds of things. That’s the best way obviously to stop all these discussions.
“He’s a different striker to what we have or what we had, but he’s a really good one.”
EXCITING PLAYER
In our view, Darwin Nunez is a very good striker who will make Liverpool better and more potent in attack.
Nunez is a proper no. 9 who will play down the centre for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.
The striker did well last season, both in Portugal and in Europe.
Nunez made 24 starts and four substitute appearances in the Portuguese league last season.
The 23-year-old scored 26 goals and gave four assists in those matches.
Nunez scored six goals in 10 UEFA Champions League matches for Benfica last season.
For Liverpool to win the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League next season, Nunez will have to be on top of his game.
