'All the attributes to play at the very highest level': Boss hails £69k-a-week midfielder amid Liverpool links
Liverpool are just one of the top clubs reportedly eyeing a move for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo this summer.
According to 90Min, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are keeping tabs on the Ecuador international.
As well as Liverpool, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, West Ham, Barcelona, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are reportedly in pursuit.
However, Graham Potter is confident that Caicedo will remain at the Amex Stadium after the transfer window ends.
The Seagulls boss also joked that £42m would “probably only get his boots”.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Fulham, Potter told BBC Sport: “It doesn’t surprise me that people are looking at him. He is playing at a fantastic level.
“He is a top kid, a great person, young, playing in the Premier League and has all the attributes to play at the very, very highest level.
“We don’t want to lose him and we don’t think we will, but you never know. That is how it is but we are quite calm and confident.”
Potter then joked: “I think you’d probably get his boots for £42m, knowing the chairman.”
Last week, Klopp admitted that Liverpool were now in the market for a new midfielder.
And while Caicedo would be a great addition to the Anfield ranks, it would be a difficult transfer to complete.
Potter has previously claimed that Caicedo is happy at Brighton and enjoying his football there.
Crucially, the player’s £69,000-a-week contract runs until 2025.
Brighton’s hand would be incredibly strong in negotiations, and they’ve made it clear they’re not looking to sell.
