Liverpool face competition from PL rivals in the race for 23-year-old midfield ace
The 23-year-old central midfielder has been on the radar of multiple Premier League clubs including Everton and Manchester City. A rising name in the game, the Reds will do well to snap him up quickly.
With Wolves now getting involved, any chance to bring the midfielder to Anfield should be explored before they pounce on the player.
In 100 games for Sporting CP so far, the Portuguese international has scored seven goals and made nine assists. He can play multiple positions in midfield and is a threat at either end of the pitch.
From a Liverpool perspective, the current injury situation in midfield could see the club move for Nunes. Presently, apart from Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Harvey Elliot, Fabinho and Fabio Carvalho, no midfielder is fit.
Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has been reluctant to let go of the midfielder this summer and has urged him to stay for one more season. A vital cog in the Portuguese side, it is difficult to see them let him go without a fight.
Should the Portuguese international make a move to Liverpool, can play as the understudy to Fabinho besides playing in central midfield alongside Henderson and Thiago Alcantara.
Another reason why Liverpool should look to sign him is his young age. After all, Henderson, Thiago and Milner are ageing and the club should look to sign long-term replacements.
