Liverpool started negotiations with 22-year-old La Liga striker

The Merseyside giants are plotting a move for Alexander Isak this summer, and he would be an ideal partner to Diogo Jota. The German coach is said to be willing to break the club’s transfer record to land the centre-forward from Real Sociedad for a whopping £77m, according to reports in Spain.

Sweden international is highly rated having been linked with several moves in recent transfer windows, including PL rivals Man United and Arsenal. While Liverpool usually play Diogo Jota in the middle of a front three, they have many talents to choose from, with Luis Diaz and Firmino also available.

Alexander could also easily slot into that central role and link up with Jota out wide, or the German coach could opt to play a more traditional partnership of only the two of them.

Diogo Jota has proven he can excel when working with a strike partner, before he made a move to Liverpool, the Portuguese centre-forward had an ‘amazing’ partnership at Wolverhampton with Raul Jimenez. In their final campaign together, they had a combined average of just over three shot-creating actions per 90 minutes played.

At only 22-years old, Isak still has a lot of time to develop, and with Diogo Jota 25 years of age, they could forge a long-lasting partnership that could naturally succeed Liverpool’s pairing of Salah and Mane.
