Liverpool handed massive injury boost v Man United, £20m star in training
The Reds are gearing up to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night as Jurgen Klopp’s outfit chase a first Premier League victory of the campaign.
However, Liverpool are ravaged by injury and between fitness-related absences and suspensions, Klopp will be missing up to nine players versus the Red Devils.
One of those players who missed the draw at Crystal Palace last Monday was Jordan Henderson.
And when the midfielder wasn’t photographed in team training in midweek, the Liverpool captain was looking like a major doubt to make the trip to Manchester United.
However, The Echo have reported that the Reds’ skipper did return to Kirkby this afternoon and is back in full training, 48 hours before the clash.
If Klopp has Henderson – a £20 million signing in 2011 – available then it’s really a massive piece of good news.
That’s because the Liverpool manager is already scraping the barrel when it comes to midfield options, with Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones among those sidelined through injury, while Naby Keita could yet leave Anfield before the transfer window shuts.
Henderson is an enormously-important player for the Merseysiders and their prospects of victory at Old Trafford absolutely improve if he’s available against Erik ten Hag’s troops.
Earlier this week, it was also reported that Roberto Firmino – also absent versus the Eagles – would be eligible to face United.
